It has been a long held dream of the late Mrs. Inderjit Khurana, Founder of the Ruchika Social Service Organisation to promote scientific outlook among underprivileged youth and children and prepare them as positive contributors of the society.

This is one of the endeavors to materialize her dream. These marginalized groups also have great potential in the field of Science and Technology and this will only blossom if opportunities are provided for them.

To augment their scientific outlook and to enhance creativity in the field of Science and Math, on the eve of World Aids Day the Ruchika Social Service Organisation has taken series of initiatives in order to encourage and promote creativity and innovation amongst adolescents, youth & children in the slums, by organizing programs to identify their latent talents and have been training them to take the lead in their community to fight AIDS and other epidemics.

We organized a Science Exhibition viz. “The Little Scientist” in the slums on our organization premises. More than hundred fifty Little Scientists from different slums and streets exhibited about 70 science project models on HIV/AIDS, health, agriculture, power, water and sanitation, environment & other scientific inventions.

Mrs. Aparajita Sarangi, IAS, Commissioner cum Secretary, Deptt. of School & Mass Education, Government of Odisha inaugurated the portrait & science exhibition by the Little Scientists.

An Embossed Brass Portrait of Late Mrs. Inderjit Khurana (Founder Secretary) and Late Lt. Col. S.S. Khurana depicted on the granite stone was installed and inaugurated on the occasion of her 75th Birth Day on 24th Nov. 2011 at the premises of Ruchika Social Service Organisation, Bhubaneswar.
